Boeing Direct Attack Weapons Software team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in St. Charles, MO to develop, integrate, test, and deliver complex software solutions. The engineer will work with a multi-discipline engineering team to design, develop, and deploy operational flight software on precision guided munition weapon systems. The selected candidate will perform software leadership and engineering activities in all phases of the software development lifecycle to implement real-time embedded software applications for guidance, navigation, and mission management.

The Boeing Direct Attack software team develops and maintains the Operational Flight Programming (OFP) software and other real-time embedded software products that fulfill the mission processing functionality of the weapon systems.  The OFP software is written in Ada and the team performs development using the Agile methodology and the Secure Digital Transformation Environment tool stack (Jira, BitBucket, Confluence, Artifactory).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline engineering team to create and implement Operational Flight Program software solutions.

  • Contribute in all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile development environment.

  • Develop solutions using Ada, C#, and Python.

  • Test your software and assist system level testing to verify correct software functionality.

  • Analyze problem reports and troubleshooting software defects.

  • Develop leadership skills and experience.

This position allows telecommuting. (Hybrid) The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. (St. Charles, MO)

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  Ability to obtain Interim Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry or other technical degree

  • 5 or more years of experience with developing software using Object Oriented principles

  • 1 or more years of experience in Real-time embedded software development.

  • Experience working in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Ada, Python, or C#.

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment.

  • Experience with Git or a similar version control system.

  • Experience developing and tracing software requirements.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
