Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Senior Embedded Software Developers for their Satellite Systems Division located in El Segundo, CA.

We are seeking engineers that are passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for the next generation of Boeing commercial and government space computer technologies.

This is an opportunity to work in a rapid development environment leveraging the latest technology and tools. The Infrastructure software to be developed will support various targets and operating systems.

This senior position requires demonstrated experience within the software ecosystem, a diverse background of project experience, and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and capabilities.  Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required.

Primary Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Hands-on C++ software development using object-oriented design (experience with additional languages is a plus)

  • Embedded multi-core development for ARM Cortex Cores

  • Development using Embedded Linux and/or RTOS

  • Performing development in the agile methodology in a DevSecOps environment using container architectures

  • Implementation of network design and cybersecurity solutions

  • Implementation of control algorithms

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree.

  • 10 or more years of embedded, multi-core software development experience.

  • 10 or more years of experience in software development using languages such as C, C++.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • Significant expertise with debugging and troubleshooting software.

  • Significant expertise with real time operating systems and Embedded Linux development.

  • Leadership experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools.

  • Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.

  • Experience with container architectures using orchestration tools such as kubernetes.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
