The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer located in New Orleans, LA. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting complex analyses in the areas of sensors for the Space Launch Systems program (core stage and upper stage).  The Space Launch System will be the most powerful rocket ever built and will be used to support deep space missions for manned and autonomous exploration. 


The engineer will be responsible for acting as a program subject matter expert in the sensor field and will be responsible for developing requirements, verification objectives, performance of analysis using COTS and custom analysis tools (i.e. Excel, Matlab, C++, and/or Python) and supporting all of the program test objectives in the avionics' lab, the production facility, and hot fire / launch activities.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • The Space Launch Program is seeking an electrical sensor systems engineer to support requirements, design, analysis, test and verification of sensor systems associated with the development, production and delivery of the Core Stage and Exploratory Upper Stage Systems.

  • Candidate will have a combination of coursework and/or hands on experience with the development of sensor systems.

  • Experience with analytical tools such as Excel, MatLab, C++, and/or Python would be desirable.

  •  Position will be located at Michoud Assembly Facility.

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with electronic control systems/sensors.

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Matlab, C, C++, Python, Java or Linux.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
