Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking an Associate Quality Test Specialists (Test Process) with our subsidiary Spectrolab, Inc. in Sylmar, CA.

As a member of our Panel array and Test team team, you will have the opportunity to work on projects covering the entire range of Spectrolab’s products: everything from large and small solar panels and arrays for a variety of space applications to photolithography tooling used to fabricate the world’s most efficient space solar cells to airborne searchlight, gimbal systems and ground-based high-intensity illuminated test systems. You will also have the opportunity to directly contribute to development programs and to help shape our next-generation improvements in product, process and tooling design.

You will use engineering requirements to configure test coupons, and flight test hardware for environmental testing. Help in developing and revising teat plans, test procedures and test processes. Generate and provides instructions for non-conforming test results. Help monitor and evaluate data from test execution. Collaborate with various functional engineering disciplines best case test scenarios as a work around plan.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs set-up of hardware for Electrical/Functional Test
  • Verifies test equipment is fully functional
  • Provides pertinent comments and/or challenges to procedures
  • Performs coupon development and qualification testing
  • Installs instrumentation (thermocouples, strain gages etc.) for testing
  • In-situ measurement schematics
  • Defines Unique Requirements (cabling, test equipment, specific data to be measured/recorded)
  • Informs of non-test impact Facilities issues (power, L/GN2, cooling water)
  • Informs of Test-impacted Facilities issues (power, L/GN2, cooling water)
  • Maintenance (PM or unexpected) of chambers
  • Creates and maintains Chamber/Test Anomaly Log

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in environmental qualification testing
  • 3+ years of experience in functional testing

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field
  • Experience in installing and routing instrumentation (i.e. thermocouples and strain gauges)
  • Experience in operating and providing maintenance to liquid nitrogen chambers

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.
