Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Phantom Works is seeking a Manager (Level K) to support proprietary activities in a Subsystems Strength Engineering leadership role in Saint Louis, MO. This management position will provide oversight and leadership to a team performing Platform Subsystems engineering and technical analysis activities.

The selected candidate will manage the activities of employees performing Platform Subsystems loads development, finite element modeling, and strength analysis supporting the release of product definition Build-to-Packages detailing the physical instantiation of platform subsystems equipment components and transport elements, tubing, ducting and support structures, as well as the review of supplier furnished strength reports and data.

This position will be responsible to execute Boeing Earned Value Management and Management Best Practice policies and procedures as a Cost Account Manager and set operational goals. The candidate will acquire resources for projects and processes, support technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements, develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports, provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes, and manage, develop and motivate employees.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support, lead, and delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle.

  • Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.

  • Ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval and disposition of information for complex and multiple projects.

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to others regarding approved processes, tools, technology and skills for own projects or processes.

  • Achieve goals for productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Develop project and operational plans aligned to team objectives.

  • Implement plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved.

  • Assign authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan.

  • Review plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues.

  • Monitor and report appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.

  • Apply in-depth understanding of program budget management principles and practices to develop and administer program budgets.

  • Ensure work statement is completed on schedule and budget.

  • Forecast resource needs and manages personnel, equipment and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements.

  • Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.

  • Provide on-going developmental feedback.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) with investigation completed within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering or Physics.

  • 10+ years aircraft Strength analysis experience.

  • 5+ years in a Strength team leadership or management role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Phantom Works development programs.

  • Working knowledge of platform subsystems design, integration, strength analysis and 3D solid modeling methods.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management.

  • Experience leading teams on complex problems.
