Boeing’s Aviation Business Solutions (ABS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engagement Leader / Program Management Specialist (Level 5) to join our high-performing team. In this role, the focus will be on supporting our Profit & Loss organization within Boeing Global Services (BGS).

This exciting and rewarding position requires creativity to develop solutions for each customer’s unique requirements, the ability to work with a high level of autonomy in a fast-paced, global environment and capability to support a broad spectrum of aviation issues for customers whether or not they own or operate Boeing aircraft.  The Engagement Leaders listen carefully to customer issues, identify solutions within the customer’s constraints including statements of work, pricing and schedule, technically support the sale of these solutions, then develop and implement the solutions per our contracted terms.  Our unique business model allows the team to successfully work in a virtual environment; we currently have personnel based in various states throughout the US and in Canada.  For this reason, we expect our employees to be self-motivated, work with high integrity and a minimum of supervision. 

Successful Engagement Leaders are those with significant experience and demonstrated leadership experience in the aviation industry (commercial and/or business), an entrepreneurial spirit, possess aviation business and technical expertise, and utilize collaborative approaches to problem solving. They must also have the ability to listen carefully, pay deep attention to detail and communicate effectively at all levels of management. 

Our current team of high-caliber Engagement Leaders leverage Boeing's unique Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) knowledge, vast technical knowledge and airline expertise, plus those of our strategic suppliers, to deliver strategic operational and technical solutions to aviation operators (Commercial and Business Aviation), airports, and maintenance providers globally.  Our core business strategy is to assist and support our customers in developing or improving their business processes to achieve optimal operational efficiency along with the business transformations and change management necessary to sustain that performance. In order to be successful in this role, one must think entrepreneurially, identify and capitalize on new ways to expand and grow the business, and be personally driven to excel in their work.

Specific business specialty areas include:

  • Aviation Operations (flight and ground)

  • Information Technology and Cyber Security

  • Aviation Maintenance and Engineering

Examples of our engagements include, but are not limited to:

  • Airline startup, including organizational, procedural and certification support

  • Development and implementation of cyber-security programs and processes

  • Development and implementation of ETOPs capabilities

  • Fuel-savings optimization programs

  • MRO transformation or development

Position Responsibilities

The core responsibility of the Engagement Leader is to build relationships internally and externally, assess leads, identify opportunities for customers, develop solutions that include work scope, timing and pricing, win the contracts and execute to plan.  The ability to prospect (generate real opportunities), listen to customers and understand the value they are looking for, and successfully provide the services are all critical capabilities and necessary skills to succeed in this role.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Building direct relationships with team leaders and members within BCA / BGS Sales and Marketing

  • Prospecting effectively by building a strong network both inside and outside Boeing

  • Creating and developing business opportunities from leads with Sales and Aviation Business Solutions Principals

  • Conducting research, collecting data, performing analysis and utilizing tools and frameworks in order to formulate the highest possible value recommendations for our customers

  • Identifying issues, forming hypotheses and using structured techniques to determine solutions and provide objective recommendations with a definitive implementation plan

  • Identifying, leveraging and monetizing existing capabilities within Boeing that solve customer challenges

  • Identifying gaps in Boeing’s capabilities pertaining to a customer’s needs, then establish and develop external partnerships to fill those gaps

  • Engaging and communicating directly and effectively with the highest levels of aviation business leadership (C-Suite / Executive / Leadership, etc.)

  • Developing and managing large scale, potentially complex engagements with firm, fixed price statements of work

  • Generating Sales Letters describing specific ABS service offerings of quantifiable value to customers. This includes tailoring of services and associated pricing to meet customer needs

  • Drive and promote all phases of customer engagement opportunities (i.e., Assessment, Analysis, Solution Creation, and Implementation)

  • Facilitating customer engagement workshops to define work streams and top-level business plans

  • Lead and direct Interviews with Customer employees, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders

  • Identifying and driving additional opportunities during an established customer engagement (cross-sell / up-sell)

  • Communicating directly with Government / Regulatory agency leadership as needed in support of an engagement

  • Ownership the customer engagement - scope definition, internal / external team development (Boeing SMEs, Customer team members, contractors, etc.), budget and schedule (revenue, earnings and timelines) and overall project management

  • Working with a high level of autonomy (minimal supervision) while staying within Boeing’s policies and procedures

  • Supporting ABS leadership on special assignments

  • Travel up to 25% both Domestically and Internationally to support projects and other business activities


This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity.

This position will be “virtual” in that the ABS team works from their home rather than a standard office environment. The “primary location” is in Seattle, however, most work within the group and with the greater Boeing team is performed virtually through office tools such as Webex, Instant Messaging, email and phone calls. Customer work is performed both virtually and on-site at the customer locations worldwide. Some travel to Seattle will be required for group in-person meetings.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 14 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with minimum 12 or more years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum 5 years airline / aerospace industry experience

  • Minimum 3 years as a lead, supervisor, or a manager

  • Travelling, both domestically and internationally to support projects and other business activities; Expected travel may be up to 25% based on recovery from COVID19 and other travel restrictions

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: aviation operations, engineering, maintenance, and/or IT systems/cybersecurity

  • Pilot, Dispatcher or Aviation Maintenance Technician license

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Management consulting experience

  • Data modeling and Analytics experience

  • Working virtually and effectively using computer and communication tools

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

This position offers relocation (to Seattle, WA) based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range: $101,430 – $188,370
