We're looking for determined and dedicate Project Managers to join our team at the historic Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. Our Boeing team is partnering with NASA to produce the world's most capable heavy-lift space vehicle - to the moon, Mars, and beyond!

The Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) organization has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Management Specialist to join our Space Launch System (SLS) Program at NASA Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), in New Orleans, Louisiana to support development, production, and test of the products within the facility.


As a member of our SLS project management team, you will join a diverse group of managers, system architects, engineers, and technicians. You will be expected to work in the area of project management driving daily team execution, coordination, and communication across all internal and external stakeholders. An ideal candidate has a strong technical background in production processes and procedures, and demonstrated project management skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary team lead in the risk management process, ensuring execution to the process, early identification of risks and opportunities with appropriate mitigation plans.

  • Acts as cost account management for multiple teams with a strong understanding of integrated scheduling and Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.

  • Lead team in change management activities across internal and external customer changes.

  • Work directly with subject matter experts across the business to quickly iterate and converge on achievable solutions that meet our customers’ needs.

  • Develop solutions to previously unsolved problems as our development timelines are aggressive.

  • Leads others and directs phases of assigned cross-organizational or business unit projects demonstrating proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards).

  • Ensures assigned individuals are executing the identified and assigned tasks and providing appropriate tracking and reporting per plan.

  • Provides in-depth analysis of project culminating with lessons learned and historical reports for incorporation into future project plans.

  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.

  • Work both as an individual contributor and as a team lead to drive collaboration across multiple projects and products.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • 3+ years’ experience in project leadership through scheduling and/or EVM

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience do you have in program or project management

  • 3+ years’ of experience in production processes and flow

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.).
