The Fort Walton Beach Electrical Design Group is seeking an Electrical Technical Designer . The candidate will start their career growth by working with experienced engineers to assist providing engineering and technical decisions for Boeing Military Aircraft, Military Derivative Aircraft (AEW&C, AWACS, C-32/C-40, E-4B, VC-25A, KC-767, B-1B, B-2, B-52 and others), Commercial Aircraft (737, 767, 787 and 777), and other diverse projects.  Main area of focus will be to develop, maintain and release electrical drawings, systems designs or engineering documentation and data by applying company, industry and governmental standards to ensure compliance to Boeing and FAA electrical requirements.  Assignments will provide an excellent opportunity to learn aircraft electrical wire design on the various platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains releases and assists in developing electrical/mechanical drawings, systems designs or engineering documentation and data, by applying Company, industry and governmental standards.
  • Using design tools, prepares documentation and incorporates basic design changes.
  • Creates, develops and maintains elementary systems designs.
  • Supports engineering system design and functionality validation activities.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of moderately-complex product installation designs and part designs.
  • Supports coordination with internal partners and external suppliers.
  • Works under close mentorship.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing assigned work with a history of meeting commitments
  • Adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated event

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate Degree plus min of 6 years related aircraft experience.
  •  Experience in wiring design or aircraft maintenance with familiarity with wiring components, drawings and standards.
  • Must possess good organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to travel to Oklahoma City site for short term assignments and mentoring as needed.  No more than 10% of the time is expected.
  • Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment

             

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry
  • Previous experience in Electronic and Electrical Technical design
  • Familiarity with aircraft systems, wiring, electrical drawings, component specifications, 2D CAD experience

Typical Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Hybrid/Telecommute:

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Fort Walton Beach, FL)
