Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett and Tukwila, Washington is seeking an Integrated Modular Avionics System Integration Engineer to join the 777X/787 Common Core System (CCS) team.  All projects focus on design, development, and production support of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) Platform Architecture and Airplane Electronic Hardware (AEH) & Software. Responsibilities include translation of concepts and high-level requirements to specific architectures and operational specifications, and the integration of avionics systems and components into our complex airplanes. Work with a worldwide supplier base to implement system hardware and software. Validate designs through both laboratory and airplane testing. Work with aircraft systems from initial concept through certification, delivery, and production life.

Within the Common Core System team, these positions may be assigned to work with:

  • Component design, development and qualification.

  • System Requirements documentation, validation, and verification.

  • Support of System Safety Analysis and Safety of Flight determinations.

  • Support of computing hardware and software, and execution of ground-based software tools.

Job Description

Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements. Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications. Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and documents moderately complex electronic and electrical system requirements.

  • Designs hardware, software and interface specifications.

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Assists in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3 or more years of experience with design engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, electronic or computer engineering

  • Experience with avionics or electronics related hardware

  • Experience with engineering concepts, processes, and methods

  • Knowledge and/or experience with FAA Certification

  • Experience with airplane development program processes

  • Experience working with cross functional teams

  • Background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong quantitative ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment

  • Experience with model based engineering tools development and/or integration

Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
