The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), is seeking a Senior Network Design Engineer (Level 4), in Hazelwood, MO.  The selected candidates will be responsible for designing avionics data networks. Primary duties include developing and reviewing system architectures, requirements, specifications, and designs for internal teams and external suppliers. The position also requires working closely with all stakeholders in order to identify potential issues and implement solutions.

Successful candidates must possess a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Position Responsibilities:

• Designing, configuring, and testing networking architectures.

• Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.

• Predicting and monitoring network performance to determine if architectural or design adjustments need to be made.

• Coordinating with stakeholders about solving existing system problems.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). A final U.S. secret clearance Pre Start is required. 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree or higher in information technology or engineering related field of study with a network engineering focus.

• 9 years’ experience in relevant fields (7 years with a Masters).

• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.

• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.

• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Network security experience.

• Currently hold or have held a US Security Clearance in the past 24 Months.

• Experience with RoCE network protocols.

• Experience with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS).

• Experiences with Defense Information Systems Network (DISN).

• Experience with avionics networks.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
