The Boeing Phantom Works division is seeking an Experienced Electrical System Design & Analysis Engineer (Level 4), in El Segundo, CA to provide support to the Resilient Space Technologies Group. The Resilient Space Technologies Group is part of Boeing Phantom Works which creates differentiated capabilities and services by relentlessly pursuing innovation in design, thinking and execution. Boeing Phantom Works Space creates the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.  Phantom Works focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

We are seeking an Electrical System Design & Analysis Engineer with experience in satellites to work in a rapid development environment. This engineer will need experience developing and documenting complex electronic and electrical system requirements. Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications The role will develop a statement of work and tests and validates products to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, model, and design component, slice and unit level next-Gen communications electronics hardware for space.

  • Ability and interest working in a fast paced environment developing communication electronics payload technology for prototype demonstrations in space.

  • Create unit, slice and component level test and qualification plans for rapid development space electronics hardware.

  • Own the design and verification procedures necessary for hardware sell off.

  • .Active participation with customers in determining the test parameters and test methodology for hardware sell off.

  • Lead the verification and analysis of test results and the creation of test data reports.

  • Support all design reviews and provide content as requested (PDR, CDR, unit sell-off).

  • Ability to work across IPT’s and with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Conduct risk mitigation activities and issue resolution Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.

  • Understanding of parts selection and managing parts procurement.

This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) A final U.S. top secret clearance Pre Start is required. 

Basic Qualification:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

  • Experienced in electrical system design at the electronics unit, slice, and component level.

  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location

  • Understanding of Circuit Design, PCB physical design and worse case analysis

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledgeable in making FPGA/ASIC and mixed signal design trades Hands-on lab experience is highly desired.

  • Must have good interpersonal and management skills and able to work well in a team environment.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.  

  • Experience navigating design review processes for space electronics and presenting at design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
