Boeing Defense, Space & Security is currently hiring for a Platform Systems Engineering Manager (Level L) in Saint Charles, MO

This position is responsible for the Direct Attack (DA) and Cruise Missiles Systems (CMS) Platform Systems teams and has day-to-day execution responsibilities for Direct Attack weapons (JDAM, SDB, MOP, HAAWC and associated derivatives) and Cruise Missiles (SLAM ER, Harpoon legacy and development weapons) utilized on various Military Aircraft and some Ground-Based Platforms. The MWS Platform Systems team is directly responsible for pyrotechnics and Electrical Design Integration (EDI) support and leadership from design through test and fielding.  In this position, you and your team will interface with multiple internal and external stakeholders including United States Air Force and United States Navy.  Additionally, as the MWS Platform Systems capability leader you will be responsible for integration with non-direct report capability leaders and employees including, but not limited to, Thermal Analysis, Fuel Systems, and Actuation Systems. As the MWS Platform Systems capability leader you will be responsible for people development, staffing, innovation and efficiency ideas with the MWS Platform Systems team and accountable to the MWS Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT).

The MWS organization is also looking for a leader to guide engineering teams in the creation of Technical Lead Engineer (TLE)-based teams and developing strategies to implement various Digital Engineering, Model-Based Engineering and process improvement initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical, programmatic, and process leadership to team members.

  • Leads, develops, and motivates employees.

  • Maintains a plan to provide staff required to execute DA and CMS production and development programs.

  • Monitors team and supplier performance to ensure proper system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Ensures that the team delivers safe and high-quality program products within cost and schedule.

  • Coordinates with program management, suppliers, customers, and other Boeing teams.

  • Supports Best Practices (e.g. Model Based Design, Peer Reviews, Technical Lead Engineers, etc.).

  • Uses program management best practices including the Earned Value Management (EVM).

This position would require onsite support possibly with a hybrid schedule as driven by work scope.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering project planning or project management.

  • 4+ years of experience as a Manager/Lead for a team of engineers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior development experience with EDI or pyrotechnics.

  • Experience in the design, development, and integration, test and production in Platform Systems.

  • Prior experience with Weapons systems.

  • Experience with Supplier Management and technical oversight of Suppliers.

  • Experience with the Program Management Best Practices including the Earned Value Management (EVM).
