Boeing Defense and Space is looking for a Senior Software Lab Configuration Engineer based out of Titusville, Florida.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads continuous improvements in software integration lab including the following focus areas: configuration management, documentation, safety, and compliance
  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test, procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
  • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
  • Develops and maintains formal technical documents and procedures
  • Works under minimal direction
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Variable Shift:

Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)
  • 10+ years of experience in following a software development life cycle
  • 5+ years of experience with technical writing and/or process documentation
  • 5+ years of experience in troubleshooting complex hardware/software systems
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux
  • 1+ years of experience in systems administration, security, and scripting experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • 3+ years of experience using all the following Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with software engineering process for safety critical applications, especially NASA safety critical real-time control systems
  • Experience developing and maintaining scripts, particularly bash and Python
  • Experience in Linux and Windows System Administration
  • Experience with engineering tools: Microsoft Office tools (Access, Excel, Outlook, Project, Visio, Word) and Windchill
  • Experience with developing and maintaining formal engineering logbooks and redlines
  • Experience using simulators and special test equipment
  • Experience with industrial power supplies (safe operations, configuration, SCPI)
  • Experience with industrial heaters (safe operations, configuration)
  • Experience troubleshooting networks from physical to application layer
  • Experience supporting a program using a continuous development continuous integration (CD/CI) process
  • Experience with software languages: bash, C++, Java, Python, and Tcl/Tk
  • Experience with software development tools: Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira), git, Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, GNU make, databases (SQL or similar), and VS Code
  • Experience with software development methodologies: agile, kanban, scrum, DevOps
  • Candidate should have strong technical skills, excellent communication skills, be customer-oriented, positive, flexible, detail oriented, and a strong team player

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
