Software Engineering Manager                                                                                 

Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software is seeking a self-motivated K-level Software Engineering Manager to join the P-8 Aircrew Training team in St. Louis, MO.  The P-8 Vehicle Simulation Software Team develops quality training software of onboard surveillance and weapons systems and the software for a full motion pilot training simulator for both Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS).  There are teams located in Jacksonville, and St. Louis.  The selected candidate will work closely with peers to maintain a cohesive engineering team with a shared vision of common architecture, tools, and processes. 

P-8 Aircrew Training currently supports multiple concurrent contracts (foreign and domestic) and continues to grow with the next large-scale US Navy (USN) development planned in 2022/2023.  The P-8 Aircrew Training Program operates in a SAFe Agile environment utilizing cross-functional teams (Software, Systems Engineering, Integration) all executing toward a common trainer delivery.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engineering accountable leader for a training systems development effort (either domestic USN contract or international FMS/DCS contract), overseeing the execution, resource allocation
  • Acquire and manage a team of software engineers to develop, test, maintain, and improve software
  • Coordinate with domestically dispersed peers
  • Develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies, and procedures
  • Manage, develop, and motivate employees
  • Provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements
  • Foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and productivity
  • Provide input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provide weekly status updates to senior management

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in a professional environment
  • 1+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test
  • 1+ years of experience in leading or managing software engineering activities
  • Experience with software architecture and software implementation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • US Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Business, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) or experience creating estimates
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework enterprise (SAFe) or Agile in general

RELOCATION:   

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Hybrid/Telecommute:

This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. (St. Louis, MO).
