The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) Missile Defense Software Manager (Level K) to join (ADaPS) team the located in Huntsville, AL. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Boeing’s Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) Missile Defense organization is seeking a manager for embedded system development (within rockets) to lead a team of embedded software developers for the Patriot Advanced Capability Sensor system.

Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) is an organization of over 140 engineers, supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS) Upper Stage, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD - missile defense), and Advanced Missile Defense efforts including Patriot Advanced Capability. We specialize in implementing rapid prototyping and development programs using small, responsive Agile teams. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • The software runs on a real time operating system on embedded processors and interfaces to multiple high-speed serial buses

  • The team is responsible for perception algorithm and requirements development, architecture and design of object-oriented code, unit and integration testing using continuous development tools, and deployment to embedded systems

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

This position allows limited telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Huntsville Alabama. 

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering and/or a Technical discipline

  • Experience with real time or embedded programming experience

  • Some leadership experience in engineering and/or organizational leadership/program management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with real time operating systems including VxWorks, or real time variants of LINUX

  • Experience with simulation development for RF or optical systems

  • Experience with radar technology

  • Experience with EVMS and other financial management toolsets

  • Experience with Missile Defense

  • Experience leading a software development team using Agile software development practices

  • Experience with DevSecOps and continuous integration tools like GitLab, Bamboo, Jenkins, and Atlassian tools

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.
