The Boeing Company is currently seeking a highly-motivated Senior Software Engineer to develop, integrate, test, and deliver complex software solutions for the Cruise Missile Operational Flight Software team located in St. Charles, MO.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The operational flight software is being modified to align with the expanding capabilities and functionality of the Harpoon and SLAM ER missile.  The project has a broad and growing customer base of both international and domestic customers.  Engineers in this segment work in all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop complex software designs and solutions across multiple weapon configurations

  • Lead a sub-team of software engineers in the day-to-day execution of software development projects, estimating and planning project schedules, tracking progress to plans, collecting metrics, and overseeing the software excellence on a set of agile development processes

  • Coordinate with a multi-discipline engineering team to design, develop, and deliver an operational weapon system

  • Apply knowledge and experiences with software architectures, platform/weapon interfaces, and communication protocols

  • Train and mentor junior engineers; identify and promote knowledge sharing opportunities; and identify and achieve continuous improvement to processes

  • Communicate with internal and external senior leadership through system technical review events and program reviews

  • Apply advanced software principles and secure computing concepts to real-time embedded software for operational flight systems

  • Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (St. Charles, MO)

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.   An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Required Qualifications: (Required Skills/ Experience)

  • Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Pre-Start)

  • At least 5+ years of professional experience with developing software using Object Oriented principles

  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications: (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Experience with weapon and/or aircraft interfaces

  • Experience with Ada, C#, or C++

  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and VxWorks operating systems

  • Experience with Visual Studio, Jira, or git

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel:

Domestic and international travel to support customers may be required.
