Position Responsibilities: Depending upon candidate experience, position responsibilities may include

  • Leads and provides technical quality review of the development of system requirements and definition of system architecture.
  • Leads development of hardware and software designs and associated interface specifications.
  • Ownership of system and component level design requirements.
  • Analyze system performance through modeling and simulation.
  • Lead the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
  • Prioritize, delegate and track performance and documentation of analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Perform technical quality review of detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.
  • Work with a worldwide supplier base to develop and implement system hardware, electronics, and software. Manage supplier development, design reviews, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration.
  • Lead development, verification, validation, and certification of designs through both laboratory and airplane testing.
  • Develop or review fleet Service Bulletins.
  • Research and development of technologies for potential future applications.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this position will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.

Current employees working in Puget Sound and Portland may require an Employee Request Transfer (ERT).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (or greater) equivalent acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  •  9 or more years' related work experience
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

  • Candidates must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with others in a team environment.
  •  Ability to apply sound engineering fundamentals and judgment.
  • Trains and mentors’ others. Works under minimal direction.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
