The Boeing Global Services (BGS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Propulsion Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Long Beach, CA, Mesa, AZ, or Oklahoma, City, OK to shape strategy and policy at an organizational level on all aspects of propulsion system, auxiliary power system and fuel system design, integration, testing and certification.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform EUM (Engineering Unit Member) responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform Propulsion DE (Design Engineer) and EUM (Engineering Unit Member) work at the sub component level to assure total compliance with structural integrity and requirements.

  • Provide solutions for an entire Boeing portfolio inside a problematic supplier.

  • Reviews and approves analysis and guides a team of less experienced engineers.

  • Work closely with Team manager and Leads to assist other team members.

  • Work with project engineers, stress, suppliers and procurement to ensure approval of analysis.

  • Present team independently during interaction with suppliers

  • Work and coordinate with other engineering groups to ensure requirements are met.

  • Develop analytical process to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency.

  • Interpret Industry/Company Standards & Processes

This is a hybrid position that allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Long Beach, CA

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with propulsion systems

  • Hold a current Propulsion EUM Certification (Engineering Unit Member)

  • 5+ years of experience working on commercial or commercial derivative aircraft

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering

  • Experience with 3D modeling, 2D drawings and drawing packages

  • Experience in aircraft structure, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience functioning as a Design Engineer (DE)

  • 5+ years of experience with engineering experience developing aerospace support products, support equipment, spares engineering, or retrofit solutions

  • 1+ years of experience leading engineering teams

  • Experience in design release processes, policies and procedures, handling tooling issues, supplier driven changes

  • Familiar with tools such as CatiaV5, Enovia, STEALTH, QMAP, REDARS, ETAC, ESPEC, Bridge and other industry engineering tools

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for 1st shift.
