Boeing’s Crew Operations Flight Deck team in Everett, WA is the exciting and diverse group of engineers and human factors specialists that define, design, test, and certify the flight decks of current and future Boeing commercial aircraft. In this capacity, we communicate and integrate across diverse groups, from airplane systems teams to pilots, operators, and regulators to design the safest, most efficient means to operate our aircraft in the modern, global airspace system.

As a Level K manager for Flight Crew Operations, you would be responsible to lead one of the teams that is responsible for designing, integrating, testing, and certifying the Flight Deck crew interface. Your team would support both current production programs and future Product Development efforts. Ensuring technical excellence in accomplishing the Crew Operations statement of work while developing the team.

This position is expected to be Hybrid.  The selected candidate will be required to work On-Site and Remote at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

The Flight Crew Operations Manager will have a variety of responsibilities, which may include:

  • Interfacing with regulators, suppliers, pilots, customer airlines, and industry relations in support of program objectives.
  • Overseeing development/design work related to the crew interfaces which includes controls, display formats, procedures, and ergonomic/human factors analysis of the pilot-machine interface.
  • Ensuring the integration of Human Factors principles and processes into Boeing designs and procedures.
  • Managing the team responsible for integration and test in the Engineering Flight Deck simulator, overseeing test schedule, execution, and PR troubleshooting/resolution in the Labs.
  • Managing certification compliance and regulator engagement on flight deck regulations, developing and approving compliance plans, issue papers, and overseeing execution of these tasks with the FAA and foreign certification agencies.
  • Overseeing creation of flight deck owned flight test plans, test funding processes, and procedures.
  • Managing problem reports (PRs) and flight squawks throughout flight test in support of certification and entry into service.
  • Ensuring the team is accomplishing the statement of work in support of program objectives and schedules. Helping to prioritize work, and eliminating/mitigating roadblocks and risks both technical and program management related.
  • Advocating for the chief program/technical pilots on a program.
  • Attracting, hiring and retaining talent in support of the Flight Deck skill teams.
    Manage budget and schedule commitments across multiple programs supported by the Flight Deck Design Center team.
  • Provide status and communicate risks, issues, and roadblocks to Flight Deck and Design Center leadership.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's of Science degree or higher from an ABET accredited course of study in an engineering discipline, human factors, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Experience in an engineering design or human factors environment.
  • Highly effective communications skills, both written and oral.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Strong desire to mentor, develop and grow team members.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience as a pilot preferred but not required
  • Experience in an aviation engineering or human factors environment.
  • Experience supporting aerospace certification efforts.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a resource-scarce environment.
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to senior management.
