The Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is seeking an Associate Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer in the Heath, OH area. Boeing Defense and Space Systems is growing in the area of aircraft, missile, weapons and autonomous system Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C) system design, development, integration and test.  Sustainment Engineering is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join the Boeing team in this exciting business area for the Minuteman III Guidance Subsystem Support Contract (GuSSC) program. The selected mechanical engineer's product responsibilities will include work on test equipment, gyroscope assemblies, electro/mechanical packaging and structures, wiring, and other guidance sub-systems.

 Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and thermal environment.

  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs to provide design documentation and high level requirements to downstream users/customers.

  • Supports detail design development and modification of mechanical system installations.

  • Supports spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms systems.

  • Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.

  • Assists in establishing and documenting mechanical component and system level design requirements and specifications (e.g., performance, environment, functionality, life, envelope, integration).

  • Performs and documenting analyses of mechanical components and systems using models and tools to validate or assess the design. Analyses include performance, root cause, sensitivity, tolerance, mechanism, dynamic, structural, and thermal.

  • Prepares and presents design review packages.

  • Assists in designing and developing mechanical components and systems and in creating technical data packages to explicitly define the product.

  • Assists in the support of suppliers.

  • Conducts troubleshooting, documents product anomalies and assists in determining corrective action.

  • Assists in creating plans, schedules, and procedures for tests of mechanical components and systems.

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Experience in mechanical design and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with missile and/or guidance system experience.

  • Industry experience working with any of the following Customers: Department of Defense (DoD), International Customers, NATO; or the United States Air Force (USAF).

  • Experience with test equipment development.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
