Boeing Defense Space & Security KC-46 Mission Systems Avionics team is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated entry level engineer to support the Flight Management System (FMS) software & Flight Management Computing (FMC) hardware team located in either Tukwila, WA or Everett, WA depending on employee preference. The main responsibilities include requirements development/verification, supplier oversight, hardware/software integration, technical issue resolution, Lab/Aircraft testing, and FAA/Military airworthiness certification.

The Boeing KC-46 Pegasus is the USAF’s new aerial refueling tanker aircraft designed to support multi-role missions including refueling, cargo/passenger transport, and medevac airlift.  The KC-46 is a military commercial derivative aircraft based on the Boeing 767-2C aircraft and modified per USAF specifications for the primary mission of aerial refueling US and Allied aircraft using either the Hose & Drogue systems or the Boom.  The KC-46 is also equipped with a suite of self defensive and tactical situational awareness systems that allows the aircraft to get closer to the fight when supporting combat missions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and documentation of electronic and software system requirements.
  • Develop or modify basic hardware and software designs based on defined requirements.
  • Perform system tests to verify operational and functional requirements are met. Assist in monitoring suppliers' performance to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Support resolution of product integration issues and production anomalies.

This position is expected to be hybrid onsite or 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at least 2 days/week if hybrid.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):  

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry by June 2022

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

  • FAA airworthiness certification
  • Military airworthiness certification
  • Experience with Equipment Manager Responsibilities for Avionics Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)
  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes and implementing corrective actions
  • Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
  • Experience in the area of Communications and Navigation or Flight Management

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
