The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician (Level 4) to join the Secure Computing Solutions (SCS) team located in Pleasanton, CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Boeing SCS organization supports a diverse portfolio of programs for the Department of Defense as well as Boeing Commercial Aircraft.  The team is responsible for Integrated Circuits, Circuit boards, embedded software, electronic boxes and test equipment designed to meet the secure computing requirements of the program.  As part of the SCS Applied Solutions team, the candidate will play a key role in delivering product to a diverse set of Boeing platforms being used around the world. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Electronic Engineering Technician will be responsible for new product bring-up and debug. 

  • Running diagnostics and debugging circuit cards used in complex embedded hardware systems, promptly identifying and effecting the required repair action.

  • Write test-related documents/procedures, work with the most common types of test equipment and interface with internal/external resources as necessary to get rework/repair accomplished. 

  • Work closely with Design Engineers when required on new prototype Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWAs). 

  • Perform functional testing of PWAs, acceptance testing of card sets and/or completed systems, identify failure trends and recommend solutions to Management regarding testing and testability for future products. 

  • Need to be able to work quickly and accurately to identify both assembly problems and/or nonfunctional components in highly integrated designs.  

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Export Control:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • 4+ years of technical experience with electronics and an associate’s degree or higher in electronics, technology, or an engineering field (or the associates degree equivalent of military experience).

  • Candidate must have over 5 years experience troubleshooting complex multilayer Printed Wiring Assemblies

  • Experience with embedded systems in a development environment

  • Ability to understand and debug multiprocessor systems to the chip level

  • Excellent analog fundamentals with a minimum of 2 years working directly with Analog technologies

  • Must have expert level experience with use of laboratory test equipment, including logic analyzers and digital oscilloscopes

  • Excellent Soldering skills to include at minimum 1 year experience with fine pitch parts

  • Experience with high-speed digital and system-on-a-chip designs

  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze circuit problems in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance

  • The ability to both write and edit test related documents

  • Good disassembly/assembly capabilities

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to analyze, diagnose and correct problems

  • Hands-on experience with Windows 95/98/NT/2000

  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Word and Gerber Viewers

  • High reliability, self-starter

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Typical Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:
