Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is actively recruiting for a Mid-Level Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer in Hazelwood, MO to join the MQ-25 Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C) team to work Inner Loop Flight Controls, Guidance, Propulsion, and/or Subsystem control solutions for our United States Navy customer. 

Boeing is bringing the future of unmanned aircraft carrier aviation to the U.S. Navy with the MQ-25 autonomous aircraft. The MQ-25 is designed to provide a robust refueling capability, extending the combat range of carrier based aircraft such as the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, Boeing EA-18G Growler, and Lockheed Martin F-35C fighters. The MQ-25 brings the right combination of refueling, autonomy, and seamless carrier deck integration to meet the U.S. Navy’s goals.

Boeing Defense and Space Systems is growing in the area of aircraft, missile, weapons, and autonomous system GN&C design, development, integration and test. Flight Engineering is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join the Boeing team in this exciting business area. Selected candidates will provide state of the art GN&C performance analysis and simulation solutions to our customer, and will have visibility across the Boeing enterprise into modern GN&C and simulation development methods. Work on other Boeing St Louis area GN&C teams may also be offered.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Define Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C), mission or trajectory requirements and ensure requirements traceability and quality from the system level to component level

  • Design, analyze and guide others in the development of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) systems, simulations, models & tools

  • Assist in performing trade studies to identify design solutions that meet program requirements

  • Participates in design reviews, analyses, simulations and component/system testing to ensure delivery of products that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations

  • Work under minimal supervision

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering related role (3+ with a Master's degree).

  • 3+ years of experience in Guidance Navigation & Controls (GN&C)

  • 1+ year of experience using Matlab/Simulink or MatrixX to model systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. Security Clearance

  • Experience with simulation, system and component modeling

  • Experience with implementing algorithms in real time systems

  • Hardware in the Loop Simulator (HILS) experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
