The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Electronic System Design & Analysis Senior Engineer (Level 4) to join the Proximity Sensing System Team located in St. Louis, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for the program.

  • Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs, and interface specifications.

  • Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Export Control:

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Experience developing low-level device driver software per aircraft interface standards (such as MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, UART, CAN, ARINC 664, RS-485)

  • Experience with Functional Hazard Analysis (FHAs), FMEA's, Airplane Level Threats (Particular Risk Analyses), Fault Trees, and/or System Safety Assessments (SSAs)

  • Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)

  • Experience implementing processes and standards compliant with airplane certification standards and/or FAA certification standards

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience managing requirements with DOORS

  • Experience with airplane communications standards (e.g. ARINC 429, Mil Std 1553), IP Networking, and protocols (e.g. Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Secure Transport Protocol (SCP), Extensible Mark-up Language (XML), Wireless Access Protocol (WAP)

  • Classroom or work related programming experience with any of the following software development languages: Ada, C, C++, C#, JAVA, and Python

  • Knowledge of computing equipment and its operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix, Linux).

  • Knowledge of software development and testing tools (e.g., editors, compilers, linkers, desktop simulations, configuration management tools, requirements management tools) capability and usage.

  • Ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.

  • Knowledge of software testing and usability theory.

  • Knowledge of testing, usability practices.

  • Ability to write and execute test scripts.

Typical Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.
Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7
years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
