The Electromagnetic Effects Team is seeking a new Mid Level Electromagnetics Research Engineer / Physicist to join their team in North Charleston  SC.  

This Engineer / Physicist researches and develops technology in Electromagnetic Effects analysis, design, and test methods for application across the Boeing enterprise. Areas of focus include lightning direct and indirect effects, materials characterization to electrical effects, static charge and dissipation, electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic/radio frequency interference, and computational electromagnetic model development to support these research areas.  Join us and put your passion, determination, and skill to work building the future!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop technology in Electromagnetic Effects analysis, design, and test methods for application across the Boeing enterprise

  • Research lightning direct and indirect effects

  • Materials characterization to electrical effects,

  • Electromagnetic/radio frequency interference

  • Computational electromagnetic model development to support research areas

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Experience with EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) or E3 (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Lightning direct effects testing

  • Experience in development of computational electromagnetic modeling (CEM) methods

  • Experience in the use of CEM methods

  • Experience defining EME requirements and research projects

  • Experience scripting (Matlab, MathCAD, Python, or Perl) and compiled (C, C++, or JAVA) languages

  • Experience with the software development processes


Typical Education/Experience: 
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
