The Boeing Company is currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Systems Engineer- Product Management to become part of the C-17 Training Systems team supporting USAF and International programs using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) in Hazelwood, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization.

C-17 Training Systems is responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of training devices for a wide variety of commercial and military aircraft. As Product Management you will provide Engineering leadership to teams representing multiple skill areas, working with program management, leadership, customers, subject matter experts, and engineering teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prioritize, and execute Statements of Work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing, and new business requirements in alignment with the SAFe operating rhythm for the organizations

  • Responsible for leading technical execution of project to update aircrew and maintenance training devices

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance

  • Understand and support program work by collaborating with Business Owners and Vertical organization

  • Communicate and prioritize with customers and Sr. management to obtain approval, identify, manage, and incorporate changes to statements of work and assess the impact of those changes

  • Negotiate proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs, schedules, and roadmap

  • Lead project execution to complete the work statement and identify performance metrics

  • Plan, identify, prioritize, and coordinate resources required over the life of the program that requires coordination with multiple scrum teams, external resources, and customers

  • Compare actual results to the baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned

  • Identify corrective actions to improve team performance as part of the Inspect and Adapt workshop

  • Provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of products, you may act as a Control Account Manager (CAM) or delegate

  • Work with System Architect/Engineering to understand Enabler work

  • Supports the RTE in PI Objective definition

  • Participate in PI planning

  • Define releases and program increments

  • Drive system demos & PI demo

  • Build an effective Product Management/Product Owner team

  • Continuously improves their processes

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):?

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience in an Agile Lead Role: Product Manager or Product Owner

  • Ability to travel occasionally (10%) in support of the program and customer

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Independently working in DOORS, including creating requirements and linking objects

  • The ability to lead proposal development efforts and prepare basis of estimates along with support documentation

  • Have Experience with Customer and Supplier negotiations     

  • Experience with computing infrastructure, trainers and training systems

  • Knowledge of aircraft and aircraft systems and/or aircraft maintenance

  • 5+ Years of experience with System and Subsystem levels of Requirements generation

  • 3+ Years of experience with Product Management: schedule and cost management

  • Experience with Earned Value Management

  • Familiarity with tools such as VersionOne, JIRA

  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills

  • Current SAFe Certifications

Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
