At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. From the seabed to outer space, you can contribute to work that matters with a company where diversity, equity and inclusion are shared values. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Position Overview:

The Engineering Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Core team has an opening for a PLM Process Engineer with Teamcenter experience.  This person will work with a team of Product Data Management (PDM) Engineers, Process engineers, Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to support Phantom Works Closed programs with their PDM systems.  Our team provides process and tool support for the design and manufacturing engineers that use the PDM systems.  We are also responsible for ensuring that the PDM systems meet current customer requirements and are updated as needed to support Boeing improvement initiatives.

We have several major activities underway that involve working with these PDM systems and the engineering data housed within them.

The primary assignment for this position is to provide process and tool support for the major programs at the Boeing – St. Louis site.  This includes supporting Design and Manufacturing Engineers in performing their work using the Teamcenter PDM and associated applications.

Position Responsibilities:

Typical activities include:

  • Engaging with program engineers to resolve issues with their usage of Teamcenter and other applications related to engineering design and manufacturing processes

  • Supporting engineering data delivery to suppliers and customers in specified formats

  • Coordinating with new programs at the St. Louis site to define configuration and data management requirements and configuring Teamcenter to support their needs

  • Working with Systems Engineering and program representatives to understand Model Based Engineering (MBE) requirements and implement them using existing PDM tools

  • Working with cross-functional teams to understand customer and corporate requirements for digital data management and distribution and implement them using our existing PLM systems

Other activities include transitioning the programs at the Boeing-St. Louis site from their legacy PDM tools and process set to go-forward Digital Enterprise tools that support MBE and implement enterprise-level common processes.  Assignments in support of this activity involve gaining expertise in the current engineering and production processes and tools and becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the go-forward PDM systems in order to support the end users.  This includes having an in-depth understanding of the engineering design information and ensuring that the data is effectively migrated into the new systems.

Typical activities include:

  • Participation in the development of process and tool requirements for transitioning existing program activities to common digital enterprise systems and identification of gaps in both processes and tools

  • Supporting PDM system transition activities such as data migrations, data validation and system testing

  • Analysis of engineering data across applications to find issues and determine how to correct the data to ensure consistency

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical Bachelor's Degree. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study

  • 3+ years of experience in Teamcenter/NX functionality and Administrative tasks

  • 3+ years of experience and/or familiarity with trouble-shooting common Teamcenter problems

  • Familiarity with supporting 2-Tier and 4-Tier Teamcenter environments

  • Experience in reading/writing various scripting languages (Windows Batch, TCL/TK, Perl, Visual Basic, C/C++, XML, Shell Scripting, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfortable running command-line ITKs

  • Willingness to take on support of ancillary tools, even if only loosely affiliated with Teamcenter (NX, Smart Fastener, AutoSMP, BSML, Low-End Viewer, TOP-Link, etc.)

  • Familiarity with LINUX

  • Knowledge or exposure to read the code for Teamcenter/NX ITKs for trouble-shooting problems and to change/recompile as needed

  • Familiarity with installation architecture of 2-Tier and 4-Tier Teamcenter and integration of Boeing customization

  • Familiarity with BMIDE (Business Modeler Integrated Digital Environment) and customization deployment

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
