The Boeing Company is seeking Assembler Installer Cable Center Systems to join our teams supporting Boeing Commercial Airplanes in our Renton location in Washington State! This is an exciting opportunity to assemble and install pulleys and rig cables for major flight controls.

Mechanics in this position install pulleys and rig cables for major flight control including, flaps, brakes, rudder, and tail fin. This job is performed at various stages of the aircraft assembly process. Employment in this position also requires, standing, reaching, standing, walking, Twisting at the waist , Rotation of head/neck , Lifting less than 10 pounds , Bending at the waist , Carrying less than 10 pounds , Climbing/balancing , Flexion/Extension, contact with metals, exposure to elevated platforms and noise and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand and ears.

Additional Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Locate work area using drawings which specifies airplane number, section number, and three-point location.

  • Obtain and verify kitted (pre-picked) detail parts, standards, and assemblies were issued correctly.

  • Ensure that parts issued are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects.

  • If parts are not pre-picked, get parts and ensure that parts selected are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects.

  • Review bar chart or automated time line to determine which job to work on and obtain appropriate drawings for job.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.

  • Drill, ream, countersink full size holes in parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size per drawing using drill motor (e.g., 90-Degree Power Vane).

  • Set countersinking tools to proper depth.

  • Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners.

  • Install cable control pulleys and/or assembles per drawing. Install and rig control cables using a Tensimeter to set cable tension to specifications.

  • Install and adjust engine throttle control systems per specifications.

  • Check/adjust actuator motors for full travel of flight control systems by use of aircraft and/or portable power source, and hand tools.

  • Use solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly.

  • Apply sealant, alodine, primer, adhesives, special finishes per IP, drawing, or Boeing (BAC) specifications as required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)

  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams

  • Experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Install and rig control cables using a Tensimeter to set cable tension to specifications

  • Experience working with hand and power tools

  • Attended a Boeing partnered manufacturing related high school or community and technology college academic program

Shift:

This position is for various shifts.

Relocation

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Union:

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.
