Boeing Research and Technology is looking for a manager to lead our growing Materials and Manufacturing Technology Composites Development team in North Charleston, South Carolina.   This manager will lead a team focused on developing composites materials and fabrication for propulsion applications; investigating advanced resin infusion materials and processing technologies; scaling thermoplastic composites processes, and providing support for composite material specifications, process specifications as well as supplier/processor qualifications.  This manager will also be responsible our composites laboratories operations in the BR&T Technical Center located in North Charleston. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 10-15 of Composites Engineers aligned to the Materials, Processes, and Physics Engineering Functions
  • Manage our Composite Lab operations in the North Charleston BR&T Technical Center including lab safety, work flow, and capital plans
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Minimum of 3 in person days per week. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering degree
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering team
  • 2+ years of production or research and development experience in Materials, Processes, Fabrication, or Structures

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of production or research and development experience in Composites related technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with project management
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and creating partnerships to ensure proper support
