Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hardware Subsystems Engineer (Level 5) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) located in Seal Beach or El Segundo, CA.

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies. You will work with an experienced RF-Digital design team while also having the ability to work assignments autonomously. Here at ESG you will collaborate with leaders in space innovation and pave the way in creating the world’s best cutting-edge products. You will be a leader in space innovation.

This position will allow you to work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements. You will lead and coordinate work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications, and work to test and validate communication subsystems to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. You will have the opportunity to solve problems concerning support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle and research technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.

  • Oversees the design and build of multiple satellite and avionics units.

  • Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.

  • Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

  • Makes recommendations for technology investments.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Seal Beach or El Segundo, CA location.

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering or related technical discipline.

  • More than 10 years of experience in RF/Microwave-Digital engineering.

  • A current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Electrical Engineering degree is preferred.

  • Experience with digital circuit design.

  • Knowledge of FPGAs/ASICs.

  • Active security clearance.

  • Experience working in the Aerospace industry.

  • Experience leading and/or interested in mentoring others.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
