Boeing Defense Space & Security has a great opportunity for an Experienced Electrical System Design Engineer (Level 3) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) located in Seal Beach, CA.

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is fast-paced, adaptable development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies. You will work with an experienced Digital and Analog design team while also having the ability to work assignments autonomously. Design opportunities to meet customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various electronic products. You will develop high-level and detailed designs consistent with requirements and specifications and validates designs through various methods of review, testing and analysis. Opportunities to track and status technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements. Interfacing with Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services of limited scope. You will provide engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product and investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements

  • Oversees the design and build of multiple satellite and avionics units

  • Coordinate work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications

  • Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Design and development of state-of-the art electronics for space-based applications

  • Duties will include circuit design, requirements and interface definition, modeling and analysis, testing, performance and design verification – with emphasis on Power Supply and Analog and Digital Circuit Design.

  • Technical support for production and test of space-qualified electronics

  • Power conditioning electronics, control system design and theory

  • Works under general direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in digital, analog and/or power electronics engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5  or more years of experience in digital and analog design engineering

  • Experience with digital/analog/power circuit design

  • Experience with digital/analog hardware and lab equipment

  • Knowledge of FPGAs/ASICs

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
