The Northwest Flight Test Data Systems Team is looking for a Mid-Level Electronics & Electrical Engineer to join our diverse team.  The individual will help to develop and maintain tools and equipment that are used as part of the Flight Test Data System to support Boeing Flight Test aircraft at the Seattle, WA location.

Team member will work with hardware and software systems that aggregate test data from multiple Flight Test equipment. Additionally, the employee will need to have experience with hardware design and development and integration, including packaging.  The employee will also need to integrate software with hardware platforms, develop system tests, and perform systems integration testing. Demonstrate new capabilities to end users.

Position responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs

  • Work with hardware, develop or configure custom operating system unique to Flight Test

  • Analyzes customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various electronic products

  • Develops high-level and detailed designs consistent with requirements and specifications. Validates designs through various methods of review, testing and analysis

  • Identifies, tracks and statuses technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements

  • Supports Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services of limited scope. Provides engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under general direction

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. On-site work will be at a minimum 3 of 5 days per week.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Programming experience in experience C/C++ coding or java/python script development

  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, 3D models, wiring diagrams, and/or interface control documents

  • Experience in developing, documenting and maintaining complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, software-to-hardware interfaces and designs for software systems

  • 3+ years of experience with hardware design and development (controller board, interface board, sensor board, etc) and code development for motor controllers and converter controllers using microcontrollers such as TI motor controller board, or FPGA

  • 3+ years of experience with Linux and Windows operation systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in LabVIEW design, LabVIEW RT Linux and LabVIEW FPGA.

  • Experience with NI cRIO, DAQ and PXle products

  • Experience with various software and hardware development platforms: Visual studio, Xilink Vivado, Eclipse and Anaconda.

  • Experience on IEEE-1588 precision Time protocols

  • Knowledge in Window IOT or embedded OS configuration

  • Knowledge in key standard network protocol: IGMP, SFTP/FTP, SNMP, ICMP, SSH, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS

  • Experience with Boeing tools: ADAMS, FTCS, OAPI, Ampex Recorder, DAPs, LADS, PSIM, Artifactory, Quickview, Redars

  • Instrumentation and data systems experience: acquisition hardware, sensor calibration, time synchronization, network typologies, real-time data processing and visualization, recording

  • Familiarity with flight-test methodologies and aircraft certification requirements

  • Experience with Aircraft data-bus and data-system I/O protocols: DAR, Analog, ARINC 429, ARINC 664/AFDX, A825/CAN, MIL-1553, IMB, RS232/422/485, A818/MPEG, IRIG106, PCM

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
