Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) Engineering is seeking a Senior Test Engineer – Radio Frequency Support to join our team in El Segundo, California.

This will be responsible for the delivery of test system solutions and Special Test Equipment (STE) engineering products to support all space systems verification and test activities in El Segundo, California.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead RF Test Equipment set up responding to requests and anomaly reports to support test operations.

  • Maintain and update certification procedures and checklist.

  • Coordinate RF STE calibration, certification, and verification.  Participate in STE sell-off between STE REA and Systems Engineering.

  • Ensure operation of the system in accordance with released procedures.

  • Support STE engineering on non-recurring efforts for new STE designs.

  • Coordinate support needs across functions in the organization. 

  • Own planning and execution of system upgrades to ensure STE readiness and availability, coordinate STE moves in the factory with rigging operations.

  • Work with STE project engineering on program support needs. 

  • Identify and elevate any safety issues/hazards, as required. Ensure FOD is identified and controlled around STE equipment in the work cell.

  • Ensure all STE has been broken down and safely returned to inventory pool upon test completion.

  • Create RF/T&C digital STE test measurement techniques based on program requirements.  Artifacts include, but are not limited to, system block diagrams, RF gain budgets, system trade studies results and verification compliance matrices.

  • Identify areas of technical improvement to our internal teams and provides technical management of suppliers

  • Facilitate the ongoing Model Based Engineering culture and work environment shift

  • Develop or reviews test cases, verification compliance matrices and write system level procedures

  • Facilitate skills development of less experienced engineers through feedback and coaching

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance/Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 4+ years of experience with architecting, design, integration and test experience with special test equipment

  • 4+ years of experience in the use of electrical test equipment such as digital multi-meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, vector network Analyzer and oscilloscope

  • 4+ years of experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, executing tests, analyzing results, and/or creating test reports

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • An active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Experience with Special Test Equipment (STE)

  • 3+ years of experience SCDs, ICDs, Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, or Boeing design documents

  • Experience with Project Management including Earned Value Management and schedule performance

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
