Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes & Boeing Global Services are looking for Senior Structural Analysis Engineers to join our Southern California team. We have several opportunities available across our diverse businesses, including Commercial Modifications & Freighter Conversions, Customer Support, and Airplane Production Programs. Our teams support a variety of functions, including structures & stress, propulsion, systems, electrical, and flight operations, maintenance, & manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans, leads, and performs detailed structural analysis (static strength, durability/fatigue and damage tolerance) to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools.
  • Guides structural design and configuration development.
  • Leads trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.
  • Review and approves data to support definition of structural design requirements.
  • Works under minimal direction.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must currently possess a Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Physics, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5 or more years of experience performing stress analysis (static and fatigue) using both hand calculations and finite element tools. 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9 or more years of experience performing stress analysis (static and fatigue) using both hand calculations and finite element tools. 
  • Experience using NASTRAN/PATRAN, HYPERMESH, ABAQUS finite element modeling software
  • Experience in damage tolerance analysis
  • Experience in metallic and/or composite static analysis
  • Experience with testing (vibe, strain gauge, proof pressure, etc.)
  • Experience working transport category airplane certification or production/fleet support projects involving FAA approval.
  • Master's of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace engineering preferred.

Typical Education/Experience: 
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD +4 years' related work experience, Masters +7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
