Boeing Commercial Airplanes is hiring for a Mid-Level Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work across engineering functions including airplane configuration, flight, structural analysis and manufacturing/production system.  You will formulate algorithms and mathematical solutions to solve geometric processing and modeling problems, and will develop software solutions to solve challenging engineering problems. There are also opportunities to work on the digital thread for analysis and simulation as we develop the methodology for creating and sharing geometric models between engineering functions.

This position is located in Everett, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engage with leads and teammates across engineering disciplines
  • Develop scripts and/or software applications that allow for partial or complete automation of complex engineering tasks.
  • Develop geometry models for use in engineering analysis and manufacturing processes.
  • Identify high value engineering problems and collaborate with BR&T to develop new geometry and optimization capabilities which can be applied to those problems.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in C++, Java or Python.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills working across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with more than one of the following:
    • computational geometry
    • optimization
    • analysis techniques for stress and sizing
    • computing loads and the load convergence cycle
    • computational fluid dynamics
    • advanced composites
    • robotics
    • agile development
    • computer science data structures and algorithms

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
