The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Electromagnetic Environmental Effect Engineer (Level 2) to join the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Design Integration Team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The E3 Design Integration Team is responsible for various tasks including but not limited to analysis, concept development, design implementation, and verification tasks on various Boeing Defense programs. The position requires interfacing with multiple disciplines across The Boeing Company (Engineering, Product Support, Manufacturing, etc.), external customers and suppliers as well as multiple levels of the organization to manage compliance to design integration requirements.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Utilize software and computer based tools to predict and simulate EMI performance for a variety of design features within a model based environment.

  • Performs E3 research and development activities supporting advanced programs

  • Performs trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements

  • Manages assignments within allocated budgets, on schedule, and with high quality results

  • E3 program planning, authoring E3 support documentation, continuous program E3 oversight and visibility, and product manufacturing support

  • Identification, analysis, requirements allocation, coordination, application, and verification of E3 design requirements to ensure compliance with system performance requirements

  • Manages appropriate aspects of supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements

  • Oversees supplier electromagnetic testing for compliance with procedures and standards

  • Works under guidance from senior team member

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.


This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor Degree of higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Master’s Degree or 2+ years of professional experience

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics is preferred. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • Experience with computational modeling (MoM, FEM, FDtD)

  • Experience with NX

  • Familiarity with Python/.NET/ or other programming language.

  • Working knowledge of (: MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and/or RTCA DO-160

  • Knowledge of electromagnetic theory and advanced mathematics to develop and apply analytic tools to model and analyze electromagnetic aspects of systems and components.

  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry is a plus

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
