The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Vertical Lift Division is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Level 4) to join its FLRAA (Future Long Range Assault Aircraft) program in Ridley Park, PA as we develop the next generation helicopter for the US Army. This position offers a unique and challenging opportunity to be a trailblazer for Boeing and the US Army as we define concepts and model based systems engineering (MBSE) solutions that meet the US Army’s requirements. You will also work closely with our partner, Sikorsky Aircraft, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation.

The Systems Engineer will be a part of FLRAA’s Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) team. You will collaborate with leaders across all engineering disciplines and product teams to pave the way in creating an integrated and optimized design. This position is a part of Boeing’s Vertical Lift Division, which includes the Army’s AH-6, AH-64, CH-47, MH-47, the Air Force’s CV-22, MH-139, and Marines/Navy’s MV-22, CMV-22.  Along with these programs the Ridley Park site supports a large portfolio of products including other Vertical Lift Programs, Commercial Aircraft, Fixed Wing Fighters, Satellites, Space Launch Systems, and many others.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, develop, and manage of end-to-end aircraft architecture definition using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML)

  • Coordinate, develop, and manage end-to-end aircraft technical requirements and verification plans

  • Work closely with engineering teams to integrate highly advanced technologies into a cutting-edge vertical lift aircraft

  • Identify and manage risks, issues, and opportunities and develop risk mitigation and opportunity realization strategies

  • Coordinate, execute, and support technical design reviews

  • Promote, mature, and grow the use of MBSE across the program and enterprise

  • Operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment as a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start may be required. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry from an ABET accredited program

  • 5 years or more of system engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aerospace design processes to include; architecture and requirements development, and validation and verification for conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools and languages such as Enterprise Architecture, Cameo, MagicDraw, and UML/SysML

  • Experience with DOORS to develop and manage requirements and verification

  • Experience with Department of Defense programs

  • Experience with vertical lift aircraft programs

  • Familiarity with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)

  • Familiarity with FACE, HOST software architecture standards

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
