The IT&DA Digital Common Services (DCS) Organization drives the digital transformation of Boeing through continuous delivery of cost-optimized common services and innovative technology products. DCS is looking for a Senior Computing Architect to join the IT Development Platforms and Digital Process Automation Management (DPAM) teams, as a technical leader to help design, develop and lead. As a Senior Computing Architect, you will be working with a team of product managers, technical leads, system design and integration specialists and other architects to help design and transition the ALM, DevSecOps, CI/CD and DPAM Products to a modern Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or cloud-based architecture. We operate as a fast-paced agile team and are interested in candidates who have proven skills in DevOps, Cloud environments, software development and system automation.

Position responsibilities:   

  • Understand the product landscape and user base of DPAM and IT Development Platform products.

  • Engage with different product vendors of ALM (Microsoft, Atlassian, GitLab etc.) and BPM Products (IBM) to understand their product roadmaps and evaluate availability of cloud-based solutions. 

  • Help develop the future product strategy with modernized cloud or SaaS based architecture for DPAM and IT Development Platform products along with a plan for transition.

  • Work with product teams to incorporate architecture roadmap work items into the SAFe/Agile product development cycle.

  • Identify and prioritize technical debt and platform enhancement features.

  • Keep track of, determine responses to and manage the impacts of product patches, responses to product CVEs, and enterprise technical insertions like infrastructure upgrades (Server, DB, Operating System, etc.).

  • Manage the compliance and security requirements of the product like Disaster Recovery Planning, System Criticality Management Process, Risk Sorter, Access Control Policy etc.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in system design and architecture definition for varied products.

  • 5+ years of experience developing & maintaining relationships & partnerships with senior leaders, Business Owners, and executive-level stakeholders.

  • 3+ years of experience working in SAFe or Agile Product Teams.

  • 3+ years of experience working with Application Lifecycle Management products like AzureDevOps (ADO), Team Foundation Server (TFS), VersionOne, IBM Rational ClearQuest or ClearCase.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of Cloud based system design on AWS, GCP, Azure or TAS Platforms.

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of any Business Process modeling product like IBM BPM platform or ServiceNow.

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of any CI/CD DevSecOps products including Code Development tools like ADO, Microsoft Visual Studio, Git, GitLab, Ansible Tower & SRES/Artifactory; or Continuous Integrations tools like Jenkins & Bamboo; or Collaboration tools like Mattermost & Confluence and Code Quality Scanning Tools like SonarQube, Coverity, Xray & Aqua.

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master + 7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
