Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) team is seeking a Senior Loads and Dynamics Engineer, to join the team in Long Beach, CA.  The design engineer will be an integral member of the Advanced Concepts Weights, Loads, and Stability & Control team, providing design support and solutions to a wide-ranging list of projects and components.

The Advanced Concepts Weights, Loads, and Stability & Control team supports BCA product development in conducting future aerospace studies. The Senior Loads and Dynamics Engineer will be responsible for conducting evaluations including aeroelastic wing loading and flutter characteristics for trade study and demonstrator airplane designs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents process and tools for aerodynamic, aeroelastic and mass sizing and optimizations.
  • Utilize technical expertise to evaluate product certification plans for alignment to compliance regulations.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies methods, models, and process to evaluate non-linear flutter characteristics for trade studies and demonstrator projects.
  • Performs, integrates analytical results and partner data to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs.
  • Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite in Long Beach, CA.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 14+ years of experience in a field related to the responsibilities described above.
  • Certification experience with a strong grasp of FAA engineering unit member role and responsibility.
  • Familiarity with nonlinear time and frequency methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with structural dynamic Finite Element Models (FEMs).
  • Experience developing load and dynamic certification plans.
  • Existing or in progress FAA engineering unit member designation.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
