The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Systems (BCA) Engineering organization is seeking Mid-Level Systems Engineers to join our team in Everett, WA to support the 777X airplane program. The candidate engineer will work with a dynamic and diverse Systems Integration team that supports the design, configuration, production, certification, and delivery of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

The candidate may work with multiple teams within the program, and will collaborate with those teams for issue resolution and new component certification. This opportunity will provide the engineer with a detailed exposure of the core systems components at the heart of each a specific airplane model, and provides an ideal leadership growth pathway.  This is an ideal position for engineers seeking to broaden their knowledge of systems architectures, change management processes while at the same time getting exposure to airplane programs executive level decision making.

The Systems Engineer (SE) applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic life-cycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.  Having a working knowledge of Boeing’s Airplane development methods, and knowledge of BCA airplane programs will also be a benefit. Ideally having experience working on or with a development program, within a Design Center, and having interacted with supplier chain, and multi-skilled, multi-department teams. Successful candidates will have demonstrated their ability for technical leadership, be willing to challenge the status-quo, and thrive in loosely structured environments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and analysis of large transport category aircraft systems and/or Production Systems.

  • Apply knowledge and understanding of the requirements and methods for showing compliance to 14 CFR 25.1309.

  • System safety assessment, Fault Hazard Analysis and Single & Multiple Failure Analysis.

  • Development Assurance and experience with ARP4754A and AC20-174.

  • Requirements development for aerospace systems and hardware.

  • Operational and Functional Analysis applied to the development of new aerospace products and systems.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  
 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering involving: system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, functional integration, integrated design, analysis and evaluation, verification.

  • 2+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, leading systems engineering, integration and test activities

  • Ability to collaborate across functions and organizational levels

  • Critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills


 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements and methods for showing compliance to 14 CFR 25.1309.

  • System safety assessment, Fault Hazard Analysis and Single & Multiple Failure Analysis.

  • Requirements development for aerospace systems and hardware.

  • CAMEO/DESE or similar Model Based Engineering software and its application across all elements of systems engineering and artifact linkage

  • Able to lead by influence outside formal reporting relationships

  • Knowledge/experience defining requirements for production enabling assets

  • Experience with Development Assurance, Certification and Safety Analysis

Typical Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
