The F-22 Raptor team is seeking a Radar Chief Engineer (Level 6) in Berkeley, MO to serve as a Radar Subject Matter Expert for the F-22 Raptor Mission System Design Team with a focus on developing cutting edge engineering solutions to continue to advance the world’s premier air superiority fighter.

The candidate will direct research into advanced concepts and prototypes for radar, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components to develop new business opportunities. Works directly with senior customers to develop concepts and requirements for future systems. Directs development of innovative tools and resources to improve all aspects of requirement definition, systems integration and product testing. Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by coordinating product-wide corrective and preventive actions as required. Leads development of proposals to support development of new business.

The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering, collaborating with cross-functional peers, leading and mentoring others, presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership, and Technical Supplier Management (TSM).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Define system performance requirements and ensure interface definition supports various functional components of the complex Targeting system.

  • Conducts analysis to optimize total system-of-systems performance and/or system architecture as applied to algorithmic functionality pertaining to the acquisition and tracking of targets.

  • Conducts analysis on algorithm performance with a focus on survivability, vulnerability, and susceptibility to identify necessary modifications to ensure mission success.

  • Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for planning, implementation and monitoring of requirements, tools, and technology assessments.

  • Ability and willingness to teach and mentor young engineers and inexperienced DSP/algorithm engineers through regular knowledge transfers.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, engaging with multiple teams and being responsive to agile requirements and critical path customer need dates.

  • Analyzes and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications in support of lab and operational environments

  • Define verification procedures for critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Export Control:

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in a Technical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or similar)

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience combined in developing electronic systems within communication, radar and electronic warfare

  • Experience with MATLAB for data analysis and/or modeling and simulation

  • 10+ years of Radar Systems Engineering experience

  • 10+ years' experience working with avionic suppliers

  • 5+ years of experience directly interfacing with customers and senior program leadership

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 15 years of experience in digital signal processing theory, including the application of fundamental digital signal processing techniques.

  • Knowledge of linear signal theory, Fourier transforms, and communication theory.

  • RF, electrical transmission, signal processing and modeling in MATLAB.

  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages (C++, ADA, Python, etc.) in an Agile environment.

  • 5+ years of experience working in a lead role responsible for planning, organizing, and leading personnel to solve complex technical problems

  • 5+ years of experience managing/interfacing with suppliers

  • Experience developing solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation

  • Experience working in a cross functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required.
