The Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Vertical Lift division is seeking a Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3) to provide support to the Cargo & Utility Dynamic Systems Team. The Cargo & Utility Dynamic Systems team is the leader for design, development, manufacturing and fielding of complex dynamic systems for the H47 Chinook. The team is responsible for providing on-time, technically sound, and executable solutions for applications related to transmissions, rotor and blade systems.

This position will be assigned to the Manufacturing Engineering Team to support incorporation of Engineering Changes, Operations process improvements, Tooling, Supply Chain, Quality initiatives, and any other process oriented changes in the Dynamics building. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, with good communication skills with both Shop Personnel and Engineering, and who is able to balance the needs of the Customer, both internal and external, with time expenditure and cost/benefit. Works under consultative direction. This position is located in Ridley Park, PA.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Develops and implements production and tooling methodologies.
  • Participates on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
  • Develops, identifies and implements conceptual designs and maintains the program architecture for build.
  • Leads and implements manufacturing plans.
  • Conducts producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements.
  • Assists in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices.
  • Analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.
  • Resolves technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule.
  • Coordinates and implements new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts.
  • Validates and ensures production readiness of solutions to complex problems. Implements lean principles and technologies.

Export Control:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • Bachelor or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 3 or more years’ experience working with a Production tool string
  • 3 or more years’ experience performing work per written documentation/authorities and knowledge of how release authority works

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • Working Knowledge of Production shop layout and flow and how Manufacturing plans tie into that flow.
  • Experience implementing or defining new Manufacturing processes in a production setting.
  • 4 or more years’ experience Developing Manufacturing Plans based off of released Engineering, contractual requirements, depot maintenance documents, and other authorities for Operations.
  • 4 or more years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment, specifically Dynamic or Mechanical Systems preferred.
  • 4 or more years’ experience working with cross functional teams/organizations.

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
