The Boeing Defense Systems Space Electronics Engineering organization in El Segundo, CA is looking for Senior RF Microwave Engineers (Level 4), whose area of expertise include RF/microwave/millimeter-wave electronics' design, development, verification and test. These positions offer unique opportunities to lead fast-paced teams working complex technical challenges in support of satellite communications programs. Electrical Engineers will collaborate with other engineering subject areas, including mechanical engineering, systems engineering and specialty engineering, as well as production operations, and program management.  This position requires an individual with excellent technical, communication, relationship-building skills, and electronic hardware production experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead design, verification and test projects for radio frequency, microwave, and millimeter wave electronics for space-based communication systems, including frequency converters, solid state power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers and transponders.

  • Perform requirements and interface definition, design for test, hands-on testing, performance and design verification, for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components..

  • Teach/mentor junior engineers and technicians on making RF/microwave/millimeter wave test measurements and review test results.

  • Support production and resolve anomalies that occur during integration and test

  • Support external sub-contractors in development of articles to ensure compliance to requirements

  • Define, perform, and review analyses using appropriate analytical tools to ensure design requirements are met.

  • Develop and validate electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.

  • Develop architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.

  • Perform complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.

  • Define and conduct critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.

  • Provide support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues.

  • Support project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews.

  • Generates major sections of proposals to support development of new business.

  • Work under minimal direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in El Segundo, CA

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance post start for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. 

Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics is required. 

  • Five (5) or more years of technical experience in the field of RF electronics design and RF/Microwave/millimeter wave test is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/experience):

  • Experience in ECAD tools (Microwave office, ADS, Ansys HFSS, Siwave, etc).

  • RF Communications subsystem engineering experience.

  • Millimeter-wave electronics design experience.

  • Millimeter-wave electronics test experience.

  • Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians.

  • Experience with test with measurement equipment (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc.)

  • Experience with design/build of electronics for a space environment.

  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics and experience in a professional exempt engineering classification.

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
