The Regulatory Administration & Airworthiness team is seeking multiple Senior Certification System Engineers to join our team in Everett, Washington.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams resulting in resolution of technical issues
  • Coordinate technical messaging and partnering with the FAA on regulatory issues
  • Develop strategic action plans for changes to certification processes and execute those plans through completion
  • Own, manage and have technical aptitude to enable execution of certification process/procedure documents (BPM, BPIs, D6s, D950s, etc.)
  • Lead root cause corrective action plans for development and execution of noncompliance’s, voluntary disclosures, informal corrective actions, formal corrective actions, etc. including reviewing/researching processes, design practices, analysis, conducting root cause analysis, and identifying/owning corrective actions and corrective action plans
  • Have familiarization and technical knowledge of Boeing’s Organization Delegation Authorization (ODA) procedures manual
  • Ensure proper coordination across products, platforms and functional areas to promote culture of compliance to requirements and application of procedures and FAA guidance

This position allows some telecommuting; however onsite work will be required at the listed location option.  Note: The expectation for this role is 1 days onsite and 4 days remote.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 8+ years of experience working directly with the FAA and/or ODA on Type Certification projects
  • 8+ years of experience in developing, contributing and/or maintaining processes, policies, and procedures

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working across the certification value stream
  • Experience with certification processes Boeing uses to comply with 14 CFR 21.93, 21.95 and 21.97
  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences including FAA representation, ODA Leadership, Engineering Unit Members (E-UM) & Project Administrators (PA), and Program & Functional Leaders
  • Experience coaching/teaching E-UMs, Design Approval Engineers, Technical Specialists, Cert Plan Owners/Authors on certification processes and tool usage
  • Experience identifying web application impact due to changes in certification requirements
  • Systems thinker capable of making engineering proposals based on data analysis and forecasting wide reaching and longer-term impacts
  • Experience developing presentations and presenting to multiple levels of an organization.
  • Experience investigating and finding solutions to complex technical or regulatory issues.
  • Experience recognizing and balance conflicting priorities

Typical Education/Experience: 
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
