Boeing South Carolina is seeking experienced Lead Product Review Engineers to fulfill roles in the Liaison Engineering organization. On a typical day, Lead Product Review Engineers create design solutions to address any and all nonconforming parts and systems on an airplane, which includes correcting any build or design errors found during production. Their solutions will take into consideration: metal and composite structures, interiors, payloads, electrical systems, functional testing, finishes, aerodynamics, electromagnetic environment, damage tolerance, fatigue, static strength, propulsion, safety, and so much more. With Material Review Board (MRB) certification, Lead Product Review Engineers have the signature authority to revise FAA approved type design to account for production deviations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Applies broad knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles.

  • Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle.

  • Leads research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and designs interim and final engineering solutions.

  • Leads others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances.

  • Develops and implements product/process improvements.

  • Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations.

  • Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues; recommends and manages complex resolution.

  • Leads develop of interim and final solutions.

  • Provides design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.

  • Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.

  • Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.

  • Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Leads activities for on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigation or support teams.

  • Designs appropriate jacking and shoring schemes.

  • Leads the design of interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.

  • Develops and leads non-destructive test procedures, tools and standards.

  • Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.

  • Develops and implements technical training curriculum for internal or external customers.


The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science degree (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 10 or more years’ of experience in an engineering discipline.

  • 10 or more years’ of experience working in a cross-functional environment and/or business unit teams.

  • Prior Material Review Boards (MRB) signature authority or equivalent in Commercial or Defense based program.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Material Review Board Certification experience or similar Liaison Engineering experience.

  • Aerospace experience, fabrications, manufacturing, and/or additive manufacturing experience.

  • Production engineering experience.

  • Relevant technological knowledge.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Ability to lead, work independently and in a team environment.

  • Excellent cross-functional teaming, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
