Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), has an immediate need for a Comm/Networking/Datalink Electrical Engineer (Level 2), in El Segundo, CA. The Multi-Domain Capabilities organization in Phantom Works is seeking unique engineering talent to help us develop, integrate, and demonstrate the next generation of multi-domain capabilities, command and control, communications, datalinks and networking – all in support of our warfighting community.  Our team is looking to rapidly expand our baseline capabilities to support new and existing contracts and our expansion of next generation research and development efforts.  We have immediate openings, entry level and experienced technical staff, for a wide range of engineering and program management talent and are excited to discuss our opportunities with you.

Electrical Engineering positions should have the following:

  • Experience with research and development projects associated with communications, networking, and datalink systems and subsystem components.

  • Experience with hardware design and development and integration, including packaging for communications, networking, datalink systems and subsystems.

  • Understanding of and experience with software and hardware integration and check-out processes and techniques

  • Work across teams (and with customers) to design and develop unique hardware solutions to solve MDC problems

  • Must have proven ability to work independently or with teams made up of various cross functional areas

  • Experience with rapid prototyping design and development for hardware solutions

  • Experience with electrical engineering concepts and practice as related to communications, datalinks, and networking projects.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Positions Responsibilities:

  • Develops and documents moderately complex electronic and electrical system requirements.

  • Designs hardware, software and interface specifications.

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Assists in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).  A final U.S. secret clearance Pre Start is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Math or Physics

  • 7+ years of direct experience in prototype, research and development design, development and integration of networking, communications and datalink capabilities and subsystems.

  • Demonstrated experience working on a team of hardware and software engineers through design and develop of prototype or development type programs, including for research and development.

  • Ability to work independently or within a multi-skill engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience collecting complex engineering data from multiple sources and the ability to organize and communicate data concisely to the team members.

  • 15% travel possible. 

  • The personal flexibility and willingness to travel to customer and supplier sites as well as various testing locations

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
