Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has a great opportunity for a Mid-Level Electrical System Design Engineer (level 3) to support Mission Computing Hardware in Oklahoma City, OK.

This position will serve as engineering support for International AWACS Mission Computing Hardware.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

This position allows for some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering (3+ with Master’s)

  • 1 or more years of work experience in avionics design and analysis engineering

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Developing and testing Mission Systems and components

  • Troubleshooting avionics systems

  • Large-scale system level integration experience

  • Experience coordinating with Supplier Technical Management.

  • Familiarity with computer architecture and MIL/legacy communications standards (1553, Link 11/16, networking (Ethernet), SAS, CPCI, etc.).

  • Background in technical requirements creation

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics, Enovia/CATIA or another CAD software

  • Use of Microsoft Office

  • Experience with MIL-STD-810/704/461 and/or the commercial equivalent DO-160.

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
