Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Flight Deck Avionics Electrical Systems Design & Analysis Lead Engineer - Expert (Level 4) to join AEW&C Flight Deck Avionics and Communications team in Oklahoma City, OK.

The successful candidate will provide engineering and technical leadership for a team supporting Boeing Military Derivative Aircraft (AEW&C, E-7) on projects related to the Flight Deck.

In this position, you will lead the flight deck team from a technical perspective, from working with customers to implementing and documenting flight deck system requirements through the critical support of issues identified in fielded hardware and software. You will mentor and coach less experienced engineers, providing knowledge transfer to aid in growing our next generation of engineers. The ability to provide technical guidance to the team, balance team priorities, and communicate effectively to leadership is critical. The expectation is to be recognized as an organization wide expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design, and resolving supplier technical issues.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain technical standards for the flight deck avionics and communications designs

  • Leads work with team to implement and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex projects.

  • Provides analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.

  • Leads team in testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met.

  • Works with other to develop program test strategies.

  • Prime technical contact for organization with critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Utilizes existing engineering drawings, company and industry standards, and problem reports to ensure first time quality of the team's work.

  • Manages, creates, develops and maintains complex systems designs by preparing design layouts, modifying existing designs and integrating systems elements.

  • Validates complex engineering system design and functionality.

  • Leads the process for product installation designs and part designs ranging from simple to complex.

  • Coordinates activities and products with cross-functional groups, internal partners and external suppliers.

This position requires travel up to 25% of the time. 

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location option.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry required.

  • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering

  • 5 or more years of work experience in avionics design and analysis engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 6 years of experience in flight deck design

  • Active U.S. Security Clearance

  • ABET accredited degree

  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry

  • Previous experience in Electronic and Electrical Technical design

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events

  • Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment

  • Effective communication skills,, both verbal and written

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
