Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Electromagnetic Warfare and Communications System Engineer for the Airborne Surveillance Command and Control (ASC2) Program in Oklahoma City, OK.

The successful candidate will assume the technical Subject Matter Expert role for the program; and may also serve as the Control Account Manager (CAM) for related work.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert for Communications, Navigation and Data Links to include: all radios in all frequency bands, all data links, all IP communications off board and received, all internal communications systems, (ICS), GPS and INS systems.

  • Subject Matter Expert for test, verification and validation for Communications, Navigation and Data Links

  • Subject Matter Expert for requirements development and decomposition for Communications, Navigation and Data Links

  • Lead system trade studies, proposal estimates, develop clear and concise presentation of complex technical issues and their associated resolution plans.

  • Work process/tool improvement actions associated with systems engineering and program management processes

  • Develop/maintain metrics for key program activities.

  • Participate on or chair failure review board, Engineering Review Board, and Risk, Issue, and Opportunity processes.

  • Technical responsibility for all hardware selection and interface control document development for communications, navigation and data link systems

  • Provide proposal Basis of Estimate for the Phase 6 program in areas of responsibility

  • Support development and test lab/facilities definition and bill of material development for communications and data links

  • Support development of Supplier Statements of Work for Communications and Data Link suppliers

The AEW&C program is focused on international support. Occasional travel may be required, both domestic and international.

This position allows for some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location option.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 7+ years of experience in an engineering role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Subject matter expert in current military data links, communications security requirements and techniques

  • Subject matter expert and experience integrating over the air IP data exchange

  • 5 + years of experience working with communications, navigation and data links systems.

  • Current working knowledge in link 22, link 16, CEC, MADL, CDL, GPS

  • Experience in hardware qualification, certification, and test.

  • Experience with systems for Avionics, Intelligence and Airborne Electronic Surveillance

  • Prior Engineering experience with all life cycle phases of an aerospace platform

  • Direct experience with verification activity

  • 2 years experience writing structured requirements for a major weapons system

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
