Boeing Defense and Space Systems is actively recruiting for an Associate Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer for the X-37B program in the Kennedy Space Center, FL area. The objectives of the X-37B program include space experimentation, risk reduction, and concept of operations development. Managed by Experimental Systems Group (ESG), a unit of Boeing Space and Launch Systems, the X-37B is a flexible, affordable and responsive platform balancing the characteristics of a spacecraft and an aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design

  • Develops, maintains, or modifies mechanical and fluid system, component and installation designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle

  • Performs, integrates and documents mechanical, fluid and thermal analyses and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications

  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals

  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design

  • 2+ years of experience with engineering design tools (CATIA, ENVOVIA, NX, TeamCenter PDM, etc.)

  • 2+ years of experience in CAD modeling and drafting

  • Able to work second shift support for occasional emergent needs

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active TS Security Clearance

  • 3+ years of experience with Boeing Design Standards for Tooling/GSE

  • 3+ years of experience in structural design process from conceptual layout phase through build-to package release.

  • 3+ years of experience working in production environment

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
